The 2009 Annual eGaming Review Awards took place at London's Old Billingsgate two days ago. EGR Awards are the industry's premier awards ceremony which rewards the best operators of the year in the online gaming industry.

The winners of the 18 different categories were announced at the EGR Awards gala dinner ceremony which started on the 30th of November in front of an audience of more than 900 officials from the gambling industry. The awards are considered to be the most important in the online gaming industry and there were sponsored by online gaming software providers such as Realtime Gaming, Playtech and Microgaming.
“The Oscars of the online gaming industry”, as there are often called, were handed in a two-day conference and exhibition for operators. Here are the EGR Awards Winners 2009:

Offline Marketing Campaign of the Year: Betclick
Online Marketing Campaign of the Year: PKR
Poker Operator of the Year: PartyPoker
Rising Star of the Year: Gaming Media Group
Socially Responsible Operator of the Year: Betsson
UK Sports Betting Operator of the Year: Betfair

Bwin, the Austrian gaming and betting giant, won the Operator of the Year trophy.
“It's great that Bwin has won this award after ten years. I think Bwin have carried on doing what Bwin have been doing, leading the way in opening new territories in Europe and leading the technological advance in our industry,” Bwin UK country manager Nic Wenn declared.
Thanks to their prestige and recognition of the best online casinos and other gaming companies, the Oscars of the online gaming industry has just celebrated the fifth annual EGR Awards.
