It is amazing that, given the current worldwide economic slowdown, the CityCenter, whose construction began several years ago, is about to be opened. Local, national and international journalists are continuously writing about the opening of the $8.5 billion CityCenter. The ambitious project will open in Las Vegas on the 1st of December and it will offer a world-class hotel, entertainment and shopping destination, providing luxury holidays. CityCenter CEO Bobby Baldwin named this project the next step in the evolution of Vegas and mentioned that his team traveled the world in order look for inspiration and brilliant ideas for finding something radically different from the well-known Vegas. All the 67 acres of the CityCenter's domain will represent a major attraction for the visitors. It includes 2,400 luxury apartments and a 75,000 square foot retail and entertainment complex, extravagant spas and meeting spaces. "It's a combination of the publicity, the energy, and the world-class hotels that are opening up at CityCenter, plus the fact that people are going to be employed," says Vince Alberta, Las Vegas Convention and Visitor's Authority. "All of that is a win, not only for the destination, but for the company itself." Three CityCenter properties, Vdara - the hotel/condo, Crystals the retail entertainment complex and Mandarin Oriental will open next week and Aria, the CityCenter anchor property, will open on the 16th of December. The CityCenter, also seen as the green giant, will provide over 12,000 jobs.
